A tough loss
For the second staight year the Michigan Wolverines played in the Rose Bowl and for the second straight year they will be going home with a tough loss. The 5th ranked Texas Longhorns beat them 38-37. Texas won this game by kicking a fieldgoal as time expired.
This was a great game even though Michigan lost. This game started slow but ended in an explosion of offense. Both teams traded the lead for a while late in this game. Michigan took the lead late in the game on a fieldgoal but it was not enough as Texas came back to win it.
Texas quarterback Vince Young had the game of his life with 376 total yards along with 4 rushing touchdowns and 1 passing touchdown. He destoyed Michigan all game.
In his first bowl game, Chad Henne again led Michigan on offense. He threw for 245 yards along with 4 touchdowns and zero interceptions. This was a great way for this freshman to end his season.
It was a sad game for Braylon Edwards to end his college career but like through his entire career, he had another great performance. He caught 10 passes for 118 yards and 3 touchdowns. He was one of the best receivers Michigan ever had and he will be missed.
Steve Breaston had one of the greatest games Michigan fans will ever see. He had 318 all purpose yards(217 on kick returning) along with a touchdown. Time and time again he gave Michigan great position on the field. This was the best game of his 3 year career at Michigan.
Michigan's kicker Garrett Rivas kicked 3 field goals for Michigan, including 2 in the fourth quarter. He helped keep Michigan in this game.
It was tough seeing Michigan lose 2 straight Rose Bowls but the future is very bright for this team. They were Big Ten champs and they only lost one conference game(against Ohio State). They finished with a 9-3 record this season. Their leaders on offense-Chad Henne and Mike Hart(81 yards rushing in this game)-were only freshman this year and they will continue to get better. We lost Braylon Edwards and other seniors but this team can only improve. Next year I expect them to compete for the Big Ten crown again but I also think they will compete for the National Chamionship. Thanks Michigan for another great season! We will see you play again in 8 monthes.
